With recent events threatening to literally shutdown Eastern Japan, I’m concerned about how the blackouts will affect me this summer. I may find myself buying a lot of UPS devices to power my home. While the April weather is proving to be rather cool compared to last summer, it’s only a matter of time before I will need to turn on the AC in an effort to keep the temperatures down. TEPCO has sent a notice that they may need to continue the blackouts through this summer! This doesn’t just concern me, but all the small and medium-sized businesses that rely on electricity for production of goods and services.

For the next month or two, I may be able to get away without running the air conditioner. After that, I will need the AC to keep the cool.
