After officially stamping the documents at the city hall in Japan for our marriage license, we decided to fly to Dallas, Texas. This would be the first time my Mother would personally meet my Japanese wife. While we took a short detour in New York, we spent a few days at my Mom’s house in Cedar Hill.

It was good to see my Mom and get a good “Bear hug.” However, I did experience a bit of reverse culture-shock. I found myself no longer the “fat guy” walking around. Instead, I was “average sized” compared to everyone else. It’s something I didn’t really expect. The general attitudes of people was also different than I remembered. Everyone seemed a bit more distant and rude. I was actually glad to be back in Japan. Even if I am a bit “fat” compared to most Japanese.
